Just 30 minutes from Brisbane, Samford Museum brings Queensland’s early settlers to life with real buildings, vintage tools, hands-on activities and passionate volunteers. A perfect day out for families, school groups, and history lovers, we’re open Wednesday & Sunday 10am – 4pm, and groups by arrangement. Tickets are $6, $2 for kids and under-5s go free!

Why Visit the Museum

Step back in time and explore the rich history of early Samford at this charming village-style museum. Wander through original buildings like the blacksmith’s shop, schoolhouse, and railway station, each filled with authentic artefacts and stories that reveal how settlers built the community.

There’s plenty to engage visitors of all ages. Watch live blacksmithing demonstrations on the first Sunday of each month, try hands-on copper workshops safe for all ages, and explore vintage farm machinery. Don’t miss the replica 1872 schoolhouse or the War Time Memories exhibit in the original Grovely Railway Station. History enthusiasts can also access extensive archives and research resources, supported by passionate volunteers.

 Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We had such a wonderful visit on Sunday! The volunteers were so welcoming, friendly and informative and we were able to learn so much more as they wandered around, chatting and engaging with visitors. My 2.5 year old had an absolute blast- her favourite places were the old school building (where she got to sit at the teacher’s desk and ring the old school bell) and the collection of old telephones that have been painstakingly looked after and actually work (you can call each other from across the room). The volunteers have worked tirelessly to create such an amazing historical village, it really feels like you have wandered back in time. Every item tells its own story and has been cared for with love. My favourite parts were the schoolhouse, original cottage and the vintage toy museum. Such a delight for history buffs and anyone really. We will be back! Thank you for making our visit to Samford Valley so memorable and lovely.
